PARTNERSHIP FOR FLOYD
MONTHLY MEETING
April 17, 2017

President Anne Pendrak presided and called the meeting to order. A quorum was attained.

Present were: Michael Maslaney, Marjory Wells, Jane Cundiff, Anne Pendrak, Tim Smith, Jack Wall, John Hopkins, Liz Warriner, Barbara Pleasant, and Dede McGrath.

Minutes: The minutes of February 20, 2017, and March 20, 2017, were approved as corrected.

Treasurers’ Reports

General Fund: Treasurer Barbara Pleasant reported the balance for the General Fund is $10,022.28. Additional health fair registrations were deposited and reimbursements for food expenses were paid out. The total health fair registrations were $555; food expenses were $93; leaving a balance of $462. The bill for the use of the school has not yet been received; we are estimating the school bill will be around $200. Barbara’s report is attached and incorporated by reference.

Old Business

Park Report: No new info. The work for the terracing is currently out for bibs.

Dodd’s Creek Trail Report: Mike reported that he had not been to anymore meetings and had no new information. Make and Doug Thompson are scheduled to walk the trail soon for an assessment of the trail and its needs. Mike would like to schedule a work party for Saturday, 4/22, around 10 am. Straw and grass blend seed needs to be sown. The container that is on the property will be moved; it impedes the parking lot and trail entrance. Mike will be discussing moving the trail entrance with Doug. Dennis is retiring; Chester has heavy equipment and is a possibility to be used in the future. Project Floyd, April 29, will furnish a work party for the trail. The EDA indicated that a commerce park trail might be looked into next year. No new information on the Town to School trail.

Give Big Day: John reported that he was unable to get us registered for the Big Give as we had missed the deadline. However, he was able to get us registered on the “Click and Pledge” system that CFNRV uses. This system can be used for any of our fundraising events and can be set up to take donation on our own website. Cost of the use is 3.75% of the donation plus $0.30 per transaction. This is a good cost.

Health Fair: Jane reported that the Health Fair was a great success; everyone had great things to say and want to see another fair. We had between 70-75 vendors. Jane is planning on sending a letter to the vendors to get feedback from them on the fair and how things went, what’s needed, etc. It was suggested that for the next fair, all booth will be $15 regardless of profit/non-profit status, and to make the event annual. Roads signs are needed the day of the fair; we might be able to re-use the Earth Day signs. The possible date for next year is March 24th. Jane’s report is attached and incorporated by reference.

Sustain Floyd Film Series: No new info.

New Business

Recycling Brochure Project: Tim reported that Kathleen Inglesby, Old Church Gallery, is interested in developing a brochure for Floyd County listing the various items that can be recycled and where they can be taken. Anne and Dede reported that the Floyd County Woman’s Club has a program that has researched and gathered much of that information. It was suggested to have the Woman’s Club get with Kathleen.
