Minutes – March 2016

PARTNERSHIP FOR FLOYD

MONTHLY MEETING

March 21, 2016

President Anne Pendrak presided and called the meeting to order. A quorum was attained.

Present were: Barbara Pleasant, Michael Maslaney, Jane Cundiff, Anne Pendrak, Kamala Bauers, Karin Grosshans, Jack Wall, and Dede McGrath.

Minutes: The minutes of January 18, 2016, and February 22, 2016, were approved as written.

Treasurers’ Reports:

Treasurer Karin Grosshans reported that the General Fund had an account balance of $6144.05; $120.21 remains of the funds dedicated for trails. Dues were deposited and a check was written to the SCC and Nationwide Insurance. The balance of the County Professional Support Fund remains the same at $47.50. Karin’s reports are attached and incorporated by reference.

Old Business:

Park Planning Committee Report: Jane reported that our plans for park improvement were on track, but that the Town has concerns about funding and maintenance. Jeff and Charlie form Jacksonville are waiting until we are ready for the art in the park before proceeding. Barbara Gillespie is on-track to do layouts of our plans. Jon Beegle is will to help with landscaping and might do the Christmas tree; he may be doing the terracing for the Town. The bridge over the ditch could be similar to what is on the Library trail. More trees are needed; one of the local service organizations (John Getgood) had indicated they wanted to donate trees for the park sometime back; we will research who that was and try to contact them again.

It was decided to work on the sitting area by the ditch first and have miss-utility come out and mark lines. Mike will act at Point of Contact for the tractor build; Rebecca Johnson for the other play elements. We think we can get local business and community involved to help build. We need to get Paul and Karen down to the park for a tour. If we can get the town to do lighting, PFF can do the rest.

David Grimsley is will to plant and maintain an herb garden; Linda Osbourne will donate a butterfly bench and plant and maintain some butterfly bushes. The site for the tractor must be prepared and all of the play elements must be created with proper fall zones.

The Town is planning weekly Jubilee events throughout the summer.

Jane’s report is attached and incorporated by reference.

Earthday: It was decided via email communication after the last meeting to change the focus of our Earthday Festival from and information day to a Park Clean and Work day. The April 30th date coincides with the Town Volunteer day and we will partner with them for projects and volunteers. We will be cleaning/scrubbing shelters and other elements, and doing some planting/weeding. Possibly get musicians to play on the stage after the work is completed.

Trails: No new info.

New Business:

None.

Announcements:

None.

Meeting was adjourned. Next meeting will be Monday, April 18, 2016, at 6:30 pm at Wall Residences.

Respectfully submitted,
Dede McGrath
