Old Business:

Trails: Mike reported there had been an account opened at Wills Ridge for trail building supplies; the Town will be covering half of the cost; Joe Gallimore gave PFF a 50% discount as a donation; the Town will be sending a Thank You. John Sutherland came and cleaned up the trail , ground and chipped stumps, etc. Dennis and John leveled out the trail so there is no need for steps between the Burris-Blake properties. We may still need steps at the Library. Some of the limbs were saved from the cleaning to use to line the trail. The upper portion of the trail (behind Library) has good canopy cover and does not need much grooming/mulch, etc, however, the rest is muddy and needs a covering/mulch, etc. Need a load of mulch dumped at the Burris part of the trail; Barbara will contact David Zigler about possibly supplying some mulch. The Old Hensley Rd entrance is wide (approx 16′); it was decided to use a straight fence at this entrance. A Plaque and other signage is needed for the trail; Ralph will be collecting names for the plaque; a request of a memorial to Sutherland’s wife to be placed on the plaque has been made by John; Mike provided example of hiking trail signs. A Trail Ribbon cutting ceremony is needed along with a name for the trail; John Hopkins proposed the Library Lane Trail.

Park Planning Committee Report: Jane reported she had planted some day lilies on the backside of the Trellis Shelter. Ellie Roe emailed her park report; there is no new information on the BMS Spin Pole project or the Allen Tractor project; Ellie ‘s report is attached and incorporated by reference.

PFF Website: Ralph reported that there would be a lot of background work to do for a website and that everyone ‘s help and input would be needed. It was suggested to go with one-page website and have a link to the current blog site. The blog site has an archive of minutes. The web page could report info on current projects and people can link to the blog site for info on older projects.

New Business:

Bike Lane Trail : An idea for a bike lane/trail loop of Barberry -New Haven-Woods Gap was discussed as a possible next project. Paul Sullivan and Sustain Floyd are interested in trying to get a bike lane out to the Parkway via Barberry. The need for bike lanes in general, especially along Rt 8, was discussed. Mike will go to the Town to ask them to approach the County in regard to creating several bike lanes for Floyd. It was reported that trails had been brought up in the Planning Commission meetings and that the Town and EDA are on board with the idea of more trails in Floyd; Floyd would benefit from trails. It was suggested to have Paul come to the next meeting to discuss his idea with us.
