Old Business:

Park Planning Committee Report : A discussion was held on the park and future park uses. Things to consider are how/what groups would be using the park: parents and children, daycare outings, Friday night users, etc; wh’lt elements we would like to see in the park, or are needed in the park ; what we would need to do before we make a presentation/request of the Town Council. Jane sent emails out to the community for.input (attached). Jeff Liverman and Barb Gillespie presented some drawings for several ideas they had for various pathways through the park .

Lighting is needed , but perhaps not open outlets. Seating is needed , as well as more covered music areas and an interactive music area; the Osborne’s will donate a butterfly bench .

Terracing the park might be a viable option for certain space requirements. A play area with natural elements is wanted; regulations need to be looked at. Pictures of element examples for natural play and exercise elements will be emailed for viewing. Virginia has park grants that we may be able to get.

Mike suggested preparing a plan with drawings of what we envision, then presenting it to the Town Council. It was decided to have a meeting in the park and do a walk through to decide where certain elements should be placed; time/date to be determined. Members were reminded to keep grass maintenance in mind when planning elements. Jane invited Barb and Jeff to come    to the Town Council meeting when we make our presentation.

Director and Officer Elections : Dede presented the following director and officer information . The following directors’ terms are ending : Barbara Pleasant, Marjory Wells, Ellie Roe, and Ralph Roe; there is 1 open seat. All the above directors have agreed to serve another term except Marjory Wells, giving us 2 open seats on the Board of Directors. A motion was made, seconded and passed to accept the slate of directors as presented . The following people have agreed to serve as officers: Anne Pendrak – President, Mike Maslaney – VP, Dede McGrath – Recording Secretary, Jane Cundiff – Communications Secretary, Karin Grosshans – Treasurer.
